Although it was a relatively dry winter in Fort Collins, we’ve enjoyed some gentle spring rain this past week. I was out early this morning looking for my favorite red fox family, and found that the single kit was almost full-grown! He was suprised to find me outside his den, and looked startled, as the accompanying photo shows. They are beautiful animals, and I enjoy the time I can spend watching them.
I also went to the Foothills Campus of Colorado State University to observe some newly-hatched Canada geese. I found four little goslings less than a week old. Both parents were watching over them very carefully! Staying my distance, I circled around momma goose after she had tucked them under her wing, and got this nice Mother’s Day photo. Enjoy.
