Janet and I spend a wonderful few days in Snowmass Village near Aspen, Colorado. One of the must-see activities in the area is to visit Maroon Bells. This set of three mountains is situated in a valley sheltering Maroon Lake. if all is well, the wind is still enough to capture a reflection of the mountain peaks, and if the season is right, the aspen are turning color. I think we were there at just the right time! The first photo shows my “reflection” shot of Maroon Bells. Janet upstaged me by taking a wonderful photo of the same scene with her I-phone!
We did a day-trip to the north of Snowmass on a side road recommended in John Fielder’s “Best of Colorado”. The area visited was the mountain valley dominated by Mount Sopris. This little-known peak is one of the most beautiful in Colorado, in my opinion. We traveled down a single-lane gravel road to a hiking trailhead, and I captured the other image below as we were leaving. Great time –
